Abstract

Until recently, Jonathan Edwards’ biblical commentary has been largely ignored.Despite its recent attention and the clarion call of some scholars to recover this critical aspect of Edwards’ thought, research has been relatively scanty and much work remains to be done to illuminate Edwards’ lifelong engagement with scripture. The modern critical editions of Edwards’ Notes on Scripture (1998) and Blank Bible (2006) present a new generation of scholars with a mountain of biblical material to be explored. This study examines the more recent of these critical editions, Edwards’ Blank Bible
